In 2007, the only large manufacturer in Boones Mill failed with the housing crash. The Town took a considerable risk in purchasing a 73-acre industrial property for redevelopment. Our vision is a
mixed-use home for small businesses that also maintains the hillside and the creek, that balances history and innovation.
The cornerstone of the redevelopment is the historic train depot, which is being restored as a museum and cultural center. The Town is renovating a 50,000 square-foot commercial building and seeks new tenants. Future stages may include hiking trails and a pond, larger mixed-use buildings, or an amphitheater for performances.
The Town has begun renovating the former factory building which is in the best condition. Tenants are committed for the lower level. About 25,000 square feet on the upper level is available for new tenants, along with about 10,000 of high-ceiling industrial space on the lower level. The architects' concept sketch is below. If this space appeals for your business, contact Town staff.
Rent in the range of $3 to $6 per square foot, depending on location.
