Government

"The purpose of government is to enable the people of a nation to live in safety and happiness. Government exists for the interests of the governed, not for the governors."
Thomas Jefferson
Boones Mill is one the smallest towns in Virginia to use the council-manager form of government. The seven members of Council, including a Mayor, are elected in May to four-year staggered terms. Council appoints a Town Manager who leads the implementation of policy. Council appoints a Town Clerk/Treasurer to manage adopted ordinances and resolutions as well as managing the Towns financial affairs. Town Council meets twice a month. Public participation is always welcome.

Town Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 PM at Town Hall and the 4th Tuesday of each month at 3 PM at Town Hall. All meetings are open to the public.

Town Hall is open Monday through Thursday 9 am to 4:30 pm and on Friday's by appointment only.
