Special Event Permits

Purpose

The Special Event Permit establishes a process for permitting special events in public spaces within the incorporated limits of the Town of Boones Mill, including, but not limited to, Town property or facilities. It is recognized that these special events enhance Boones Mill’s quality of life and benefit citizens by creating unique entertainment venues that are not generally provided as part of governmental services. Additionally, it is recognized that tax-exempt, non-profit organizations that benefit the community are central to the quality of life in Boones Mill. From time to time, these organizations hold special events; through these events, they gain the resources to provide essential services to the citizens of the greater Boones Mill community.


It is further intended to provide coordinated policies for the regulation of specific activities conducted in conjunction with special events, to ensure the health and safety of patrons, to prohibit illegal activity during these events, and to protect the rights and interests granted under a special event permit. It is further intended to create a mechanism for cost recovery for special events without adversely affecting those events that contribute economically and socially to the community.
