The Town of Boones Mill, located in Franklin County, Virginia, was originally developed around the site of a mill established by the Boone family in 1786. The Town was incorporated in 1927, encompassing approximately 525 acres. The original Town boundary has not changed.
With a population of approximately 250 people, the Town is one of the smallest localities in the State of Virginia. It is located 10 miles north of the County seat, Rocky Mount, and approximately 10 miles south of Roanoke along U.S. Route 220. Boones Mill remains one of only two municipalities in Franklin County. It is home to several locally owned businesses and food establishments.
The Town Council consists of seven elected members which include a Mayor and Vice Mayor. The Council meets twice a month.
