A Virginia's Blue Ridge Community
The Town of Boones Mill, located in Franklin County, Virginia, was originally developed around the site of a mill established by the Boone family in 1786. The Town was incorporated in 1927, encompassing approximately 525 acres. The original Town boundary has not changed since that time.
With a population of approximately 250 people, the town is located 10 miles north of the county seat, Rocky Mount, and approximately 10 miles south of Roanoke along U.S. Route 220, which bisects the town. Boones Mill remains one of only two municipalities in Franklin County.
Boones Mill has retained its small-town charm and is host to the nearby Cahas Mountain Rural Historic District and the nearby homeplace of Confederate General Jubal Anderson Early.
It is the intention of the Mayor and Council to provide for the orderly and designed growth of the community, supported by public facilities and services such as water and sewer systems, police and fire protection, parks, roads, and schools.
