The
Boones Mill N&W Railway Depot
stands as a living museum, telling the story of the railroad in Boones Mill, Virginia. Once threatened with demolition, the Depot was relocated from its original site along the Norfolk Southern railway line to a new location near the Town Hall, thanks to the efforts of the Depot Committee and the community. Since 2014, volunteers have worked tirelessly to restore the Depot, raising funds and dedicating countless hours to preserve this historic structure.
In 2016, the Town received a federal transportation grant that funded the initial engineering, planning, and construction of stormwater management improvements and stabilization of the entire structure. With this work complete, volunteers repainted the Depot, led by a local Eagle Scout as part of his capstone service project. A local contractor donated labor for key carpentry and masonry stabilization tasks, while volunteers collected display items, including the original safe and desk from the Boones Mill Depot. The
Franklin County Historical Society donated an old Norfolk and Western caboose, which volunteers plan to restore once the Depot renovation is finished. The Depot has been recognized by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources and is listed on both the State and National Historic Registers.

The Town and the Maggodee Creek Collective will use funds raised through this campaign to complete the deck and add an ADA-accessible bathroom, a small kitchenette, and HVAC. These improvements will help transform the Depot into a museum, community meeting place, festival centerpiece, and music venue, making it accessible and comfortable for all visitors. Your support will help restore an essential piece of the Town's history and create a vibrant space for the community. Thank you for your help in making this vision a reality.
